A WDR Report is a compilation of official documented storm reports published by third-party agencies — the National Weather Service, the Storm Prediction Center, NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information, CoCoRaHS, and mPING — assembled for a specified property address and date of loss, with the source of every figure identified. It is a data compilation and research document. It is not an engineering report, a forensic meteorological report, or a property inspection report, and no site inspection is performed.
The report offers no opinion on whether any storm caused any damage to any structure, on the extent or cost of any damage, or on whether any loss is covered under any policy. The proximity of a documented storm report to a property does not establish that damage occurred at that property.
Storm reports reflect the location where an observation was made and was reported, not the full extent of a storm. Absence of a nearby report is not evidence that no storm occurred; it may reflect that no one was present to report one. Reports carrying a Preliminary or Unverified tier are subject to revision or removal by the publishing agency. NCEI Storm Events data, the only Certified tier, is typically published 75 to 120 days after the end of the event month; a report for a recent date of loss will contain no Certified rows for that reason, and will say so.
A WDR Report is not prepared as expert testimony and is not offered to satisfy Daubert, Frye, Federal Rule of Evidence 702, or any state analogue. It is not a certified weather report. Matters requiring expert opinion or testimony should be referred to a certified forensic meteorologist.
The report is prepared for the named recipient and for the claim referenced in the order. It may be shared in the ordinary course of adjusting or appraising that claim. It may not be altered; an altered document is void, and the verification page and published document hash exist so that alteration is detectable.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, total liability arising out of or relating to a report is limited to the fee paid for that report. Weather Data Research is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any claim decision, settlement, litigation outcome, or business decision made in reliance on a report.
If an error is identified, a corrected report is issued under a new report ID with its own audit record. The prior version is retained and marked superseded, never deleted or edited in place, and its verification page states that it has been superseded and points to the replacement.
Each report carries a report ID and a public verification URL. The verification page shows the audit record for that report and confirms whether the document is the one issued. Anyone in possession of a report may use it.
By placing an order you consent to the storm data associated with that order — coordinates, date of loss, peril, and the storm reports returned — being retained and used in de-identified, aggregate form for research into storm reporting patterns and product improvement. Your name, your firm, your client, the claim reference, and the street address are not included in any aggregate research output and are not sold or shared.
Reports, audit records, reference sets, remediation history, and human verification records are retained permanently.
If a report cannot be produced for the address and date ordered, the order is refunded in full. If a report is delivered and is later found to contain an error attributable to us, a corrected report is issued at no charge.
